Wooden representation of the much-discussed artwork, the original piece is located in Milan, in front of the Milan Stock Exchange.11 meters high of pure Carrara marble, 4.60 meters of real sculpture and 6.40 meters of base. It depicts the intention of a hand in the Romanesque salute, but with broken fingers, as if they were eroded by time, there is only one medium left to overthrow its meaning. Cattelan’s work is both a critique of the bottom of the building and a disrespectful gesture of what it represents today: the financial world, which is regarded as a metaphor for statelessness, globalism, and neo-fascism.
